Orange Township is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts, offering a diverse array of parks and recreational areas that cater to all ages and interests. The North Orange Aquatic Center stands out as a top-notch facility, providing a leisure pool with a dedicated kids’ area, water slides, and a lap pool for fitness enthusiasts.

Beyond the township’s borders, nature lovers can explore several nearby state and metro parks. Delaware State Park, located just north of Orange Township, boasts lush woodlands, expansive meadows, and a shimmering 1,300-acre reservoir, perfect for boating, fishing, and hiking. Highbanks Metro Park, a National Natural Landmark, offers over 1,200 acres of towering bluffs, dense forests, and diverse wildlife, with more than 13 miles of trails and a nature center. Additionally, Shale Hollow Park provides visitors with a glimpse into the area’s geological history, featuring unique shale formations and serene walking paths. ​

Glen Oak offers a catch-and-release fishing pond stocked by the Township. It also has trails, a playground, a sled hill, and a pond safe for ice skating in season.

North Orange Park: Offering soccer fields, a cricket field, Pickleball Courts, and picnic tables, North Orange Park is continuing its upgrades with a new playground coming in the summer of 2025.

Orange Bridge Park: A park on the Orange Township trail system located on US Rt 23 at the Len T. Fisher Memorial Bridge. Bridge Park includes a shelter, picnic tables, drinking fountain, bike racks, and parking spaces.  

Ro Park: Offering baseball fields that are available to the public, trails, a shelter house, and a playground with the tallest slide permitted in the state of Ohio.  

Preservation Parks of Delaware County, established in 1974, is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2024. This exceptional park system offers a variety of parks and trails, each conveniently close to Delaware County residents. Whether you visit Shale Hollow Park, Deer Haven Park, or any of the 11 parks and multi-use trails, you’ll find serene natural settings complemented by modern amenities such as restrooms, picnic shelters, and reservable meeting spaces.

The diverse habitats within the parks—woodlands, prairies, meadows, streams, and wetlands—are home to a wide array of wildlife. Visitors might encounter barred owls, families of deer, or wild turkeys. The parks feature hiking trails, picnic areas, and opportunities for canoeing and kayaking at River Run Park. Shale Hollow offers an off-trail exploration area, while several parks boast natural play areas or traditional playgrounds. Informative nature displays cover habitat restoration and pollinators, and dozens of free nature programs are available year-round.

Gallant Farm, a reproduction of a 1930s family farm, allows visitors to revisit and appreciate Delaware County’s rich farming legacy. Additionally, segments of the Ohio to Erie Multiuse Trail provide scenic routes for bicyclists and walkers, inviting further exploration of the county’s natural beauty. Preservation Parks enrich the community, offering countless opportunities for recreation, education, and connection with nature.

Highbanks Metro Park, a part of the Central Ohio Park System, is named for its massive 100-foot-high shale bluff towering over the Olentangy State Scenic River. Tributary streams cutting across the bluff have created several deep ravines in the eastern part of the 1,204-acre park. Ohio and Olentangy shales, often containing large concretions, are exposed on the bluff face and sides of the ravines. This park offers hiking, picnic areas, playgrounds, a nature center, and reservable group shelter houses.
