4 Family Friendly Holiday Activities

4 Family Friendly Holiday Activities

| December 15, 2020

This year, family outings and family nights have been a little different than normal! During the summer and warmer months it was a bit easier to think of things to do together as a family socially distanced and outside. But during the cold months, you may have to get a bit more creative!

We have rounded up 4 holiday activities in Columbus that will be perfect for your winter and holiday themed family nights. We included a wide range of activities that will be exciting for every member of your family!

The Columbus Wildlights

From Friday, November 20, 2020 – Sunday, January 3, 2021, you can check out the Columbus Zoo Christmas lights and festivities featuring displays of millions of LED lights and holiday fun. Now in its 32nd year, Wildlights just keeps getting better and better as a staple Columbus tradition!

The Wildlights boasts a wide variety of fun attractions, including a lights and music show, a huge Christmas tree display, visiting with Santa, and more! Reservations for the Wildlights are recommended according to the Columbus Zoo. Make sure the whole family dresses warm for this fun outdoor event!

Butch Bando’s Fantasy of Lights

Continuing with the fun and festive Christmas lights theme, your entire family will be amazed by Butch Bando’s Fantasy of Lights display in Delaware! This event is drive-thru, which means your family will stay warm while you check out these incredible display of Christmas lights! Animated Christmas characters are able to be seen from your car as your drive thru this fun event.

Pack some Christmas cookies and hot chocolate to enjoy during your drive to accompany this Christmas outing!

Write and Send Letters to Santa

While this Christmas season may look a little bit different, it’s important to continue normalcy in any area we can for our kids! One way we can do this is through taking part in Christmas traditions, such as writing and sending letters to Santa. Spend an evening making cards and writing letters to Santa! You can even get creative with it with a trip to the craft store for some glitter, felt, pom poms - whatever you can dream of.

Once your letters and cards are written and ready to send, you can stop by the the City of Powell’s Municipal Building to drop them in Santa’s Mailbox through mid-December!

Great Christmas Cookie Bake Off

One of the best parts of the holiday season is the sweet treats! Baking and decorating Christmas cookies is a must for your holiday family nights. Sprinkle in a little friendly family competition by having each member of your family bake and decorate a different type of holiday themed cookie! After your bakers are done baking and decorating, the whole family can sample all of the different delicious desserts you created while watching your favorite holiday movie!

What are some of your favorite holiday traditions that you and your family look forward to every year?
